Juan Juarez approach to images develops out of an intersection between inherent meaning and conceptual translation navigated by painting sensibilities. An intersect between photography and painting creates a state of hybridity, a critical platform, connected to our contemporary immersion with images. His studio practice employs photography, painting, collage, video, installation, and digital mediation. Concept determines methodology. He has exhibited in galleries and museums such as the Milwaukee Art Museum, Haggerty Museum of Art (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi & Rio Terra San Vio (Venice, Italy), Aspex Gallery (Portsmouth, England), Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Everson Museum of Art, and Punto de Contacto/Point of Contact Gallery (Syracuse, New York). Juan is an Associate Professor at Syracuse University’s School of Art.
