Glenn Peers is Professor in the Department of Art and Music Histories, and he specializes in Byzantine and Eastern Christian art and culture. He is interested in issues of materiality and the life of objects, a subject his forthcoming book, Animism, Materiality and Museums: How Do Byzantine Things Feel?, deals with. He is currently working on a book project about the application of German Media Theory to Byzantine art, tentatively titled Byzantine Media Subjects. He will be a Fellow at the The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, MA, for the 2020-21 academic year.
